Allow bulk adding of cast members on one page
When entering from a programme, it would be much easier to have a table with rows for Person, Role and Cast/Crew (and optionally the other fields). Having to submit after every person slows entry down considerably.

Feed so I can see plays my friends have seen
Email alert / RSS feed for when a play is about to be performed near me that has previously been seen by one of my friends. Then I can ask the friend if it is any good, and book myself to see it.

add a forum or mailing list for editors to discuss things
The site needs to build a community. New users may want editorial advice.

merge together multiple parts played by the same actor
For example, http://theatricalia.com/play/3r6/the-snow-queen/production/jak has Laura Checkley playing about 5 parts.

Import its-behind-you.com data
http://www.its-behind-you.com/diary.html has a lot of current pantos & links to pages archiving the the last 10 years. Work has started over on http://github.com/rjmunro/its-behind-you to make these listings machine readable.

make a system to tag photos with people like on facebook
Often a photo of a production features more than one cast member - it would be great to tag those so that they can appear both on the production's page and on the pages of the actors themselves, and so that people looking at the pictures can tell who is who.
For example, this photo features 2 cast members:

Make it clear that no end date means the production is ongoing
So if the production is only one day, you need to put that day as both the start and end dates.
Alternatively, have an ongoing tickbox that disables the end date.

Improve handling of unknown dates
http://theatricalia.com/play/5v6/barnum/production/njr is a tour. I know when and where it started and finished (from wikipedia), but not when and where it went in between, not even how long it was at those venues. Currently it's saying that the opening location is stil ongoing.

Improve/streamline adding cast members
- Cast names should auto-complete with AJAX & do the homonym matching interactively
- Character / role names should auto-complete based on the characters in previous runs of the same play
- Cast / crew dropdown should guess based on a few common words for crew.
- If cast / crew is already filled in but not separated, it would be nice to have just a load of dropdowns. E.g: http://theatricalia.com/play/8kc/brassed-off/production/hvv1 vote -
Handle venues changing name
Perhaps just venue aliases for their old names. For example:
http://theatricalia.com/place/n8/apollo-theatre-oxford-oxford is the same as http://theatricalia.com/place/9d/new-theatre-oxford, but the different names applied at different time.
Derby Playhouse has just been renamed Derby Theatre.

Matching of people's names is too loose
I often get a list of people who's names are very different to the one I typed. It should probably use a Levenstein distance to reduce the number of false positives. Also consider eliminating people with no work more than 40 years before or after the production that is being edited.

Differentiate different authorial roles (writer, writer of original, adapter, translator)
On the play page, you can list multiple authors but not differentiate their contributions.

Change 'on tour' to 'various'?
I've just updated National Theatre's Hamlet which is heading out on tour. It's all the same people from what I can tell so I just added the extra locations. The performances at the National were not 'on tour' though and the description isn't gelling for me. Could it be changed to Various which is more accurate? I know this is splitting hairs, it just looks wrong to me whenever I see this situation.
